My Nutrition Philosophy

Every person is uniquely created, so there is not a “one size fits all” approach to nutrition or health. I believe that what matters most in nutrition is to focus on a whole food diet that is as clean and free of toxins as possible. Eating real food that has not been processed, packaged, or sprayed with chemicals will provide the nutrients your body needs to thrive. I believe that depending on your body and metabolic type, different foods will work for you than for someone else, but that some standard principles apply. I teach my clients to eat foods that work well for them, and encourage them to listen to their body’s needs, sometimes expressed as symptoms.

So many of us have an unhealthy relationship with food. Some of us use food to medicate (not food as medicine, but food as a distraction from life’s stressors or disappointments), when really the underlying issue is with a relationship or in your past. 

 

My holistic approach to health and wellness means that I understand that all areas of your life are connected. Nutrition is a large part of wellness, but nutrition alone can’t provide healing if there are emotional, mental, or chemical issues involved. I believe that both sickness and wellness have a cascade effect, and function or dysfunction in an area of the body can spill over into other areas. I focus primarily on stress reduction, which encompasses emotional stress, toxins, pathogens, food triggers, and all-over lifestyle modification. When enough stress triggers are alleviated, your body is able to finally leave fight-or-flight mode behind, and you will begin to see healing take place.
